Lesser Knob Coral [Cyphastrea hexasepta]

Lesser Knob Coral
Description

This species is often seen as a dense, knobbly growth that forms small mounds or patches on the reef. Divers may observe a detailed surface pattern—its corallite structure gives it a “pebbled” look compared with smoother corals. When polyps are active, the colony can look more lively, adding texture and color to the reef wall.
