Fungus Coral [Meandrina meandrites]
Description
Divers often notice this coral’s maze-like, brainy ridges that fold and interlock like a living pattern. In clear water, its surface texture and subtle color tones stand out as it grows in low, boulder-like mounds. At night or in calmer conditions, you may also see the polyps subtly extend, giving the coral a more “alive” look.
