Lobophyllia erythraea [Lobophyllia erythraea]
Description
L. erythraea is a Lobophyllia that divers may recognize by its robust, lobed growth and the way its surface forms a mosaic of ridges and depressions. Depending on lighting and water movement, polyps can add a subtle contrast across the coral’s face. It’s a reef-building coral that often blends into the surrounding habitat—until you get close enough to appreciate its sculpted lobes.
