Rough Star Coral [Isophyllia rigida]
Description
Rough Star Coral forms sturdy, star-like mounds with thick, textured surfaces that catch the light as you move. Divers often notice the coral’s bold, ridged look and the way its polyps give it a slightly “spiky” appearance from certain angles. In clear water, it can look almost sculpted—an impressive centerpiece on reef slopes.
