Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) crypta [Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) crypta]
Description
This coral can be found tucked onto rocky surfaces, sometimes in crevices or sheltered spots where conditions are stable. Divers may see small, clustered corallites that create a fine, lace-like texture against the substrate. Because it can be well-camouflaged, it rewards careful scanning of the reef wall and overhangs.
