Barbados Caryophyllia [Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) barbadensis]
Description
On suitable reef or rocky bottoms, divers can find this coral forming low, sturdy growths with many small polyps. Up close, the coral’s surface can seem finely patterned, and the polyps’ openings give it a distinct, “button-like” texture.
