Flabellum flexuosum [Flabellum (Flabellum) flexuosum]
Description
Divers may recognize Flabellum flexuosum by its flexible-looking, irregularly contoured fan shape. The coral’s surface often appears finely sculpted, and its polyps can extend to form a delicate “carpet” over the living tissue. With shifting light and gentle surge, it can look almost sculptural, even though it’s a living, feeding organism.
