Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) striata [Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) striata]
Description
As the name suggests, this species can show noticeable striping or fine lines across its surface. Divers may see it as an encrusting or low-growing coral that follows the contours of the rock, with the “stripes” becoming more apparent when light hits at an angle. It’s a subtle but rewarding coral to hunt for during reef-wall or boulder dives.
