Balanophyllia helenae [Balanophyllia (Balanophyllia) helenae]

Balanophyllia helenae
Description

Divers may spot this small stony coral as a low, rounded mound or patch attached to rock. In clear water it can look subtly patterned, often blending in with the substrate until you get close. It’s a great example of how reef life can be understated but still full of detail.
