Alcyonium studeri [Alcyonium studeri]
Description
This soft coral grows as a fleshy colony that can form rounded or irregular masses on the seabed. Divers may spot it as a soft, living “carpet” or clump, often in areas with steady water flow that helps it feed. Up close, the colony’s surface can look textured and slightly grainy, and it may gently flex with passing currents.
