Alcyonium reptans [Alcyonium reptans]
Description
Alcyonium reptans is commonly encountered as a creeping, spreading colony that hugs the seafloor or rocks. Divers may see it extend outward in irregular sheets, with small lobes or bumps giving it a textured, living carpet effect. With gentle movement from currents, the colony can look surprisingly dynamic for a soft coral.
