Lion’s Mane [Cyanea postelsi]

Lion’s Mane
Description

Divers sometimes see Cyanea postelsi as an impressive, translucent jelly with a wide bell and trailing tentacles that can extend well into the water column. It often drifts with the current, then subtly pulses as it propels itself, making it feel both slow and surprisingly dynamic. The tentacles’ movement is especially noticeable when the water is slightly stirred.
