Opisthoteuthis borealis [Opisthoteuthis borealis]
Description
A deep-water relative of the flapjack squids, this species is adapted for life in cold, dim environments. Divers lucky enough to encounter it may see a broad, pancake-like silhouette and gentle, controlled movements, with its arms and webbing helping it glide rather than dart.
