Opisthoteuthis agassizii [Opisthoteuthis agassizii]
Description
Often called a “flapjack” or finned squid, this species can look surprisingly broad and flat as it moves through the water. In the low light of deeper dives, divers may spot its distinctive mantle shape and slow, drifting swimming style, sometimes with arms held in a way that makes it seem almost like it’s hovering.
