Ascarosepion cultratum [Ascarosepion cultratum]

Description

This cuttlefish is often encountered near the seafloor, where it uses its skin to match the texture and tone of the bottom. Divers might see it settle into a low, streamlined posture before slowly shifting its shape to stay hidden. When it feels threatened, it can retreat quickly with a smooth, controlled jet of water.
