Description
The Upside-down Jellyfish, or Cassiopea xamachana, is a large jellyfish species that usually lives upside-down on the bottom. It is commonly found in the warm coastal waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. Its color varies from olive to tan or bluish-green. This species has a unique way of feeding by hosting symbiotic algae in its tissues and receiving nutrients through photosynthesis.
