Synchiropus [Synchiropus]
Description
Divers often spot Synchiropus (often called dragonets) hovering close to the seafloor, where their vivid colors and intricate patterns stand out against the sand and rubble. Many species have a “hover-and-peck” style of hunting, using their small mouths to pick tiny prey from the substrate.
