Description

Ratabulus species, known as shorthorn flatheads, feature a notably short and broad head shape compared to other genera in the Platycephalidae family. These marine fishes are adapted to a life on the sea floor, blending into their surroundings to ambush prey. They are found primarily in the Indo-Pacific region, inhabiting sandy or muddy substrates where they can remain concealed from both predators and prey.
