Dunlin [Limnodromus]
Description
Limnodromus is a genus of large, long-billed shorebirds, including species commonly referred to as dowitchers. These birds resemble large sandpipers and are known for their sewing-machine feeding behavior, rapidly probing mudflats with their long bills. They are highly migratory and can be found in a variety of wetland habitats, from freshwater marshes to coastal mudflats.
