Cephalopholis [Cephalopholis]
Description
Cephalopholis are reef groupers that tend to be smaller and more colorful than many larger grouper species. Underwater, divers may see them peeking from crevices or cruising along the reef edge, often with striking spots, blotches, or vivid color contrasts. They’re usually alert but not overly skittish, making for great close-up viewing when you move slowly.
